2019-2020 Booster Club Scholarship Opportunities
The HHS Booster Club Awards Several Scholarships Every Spring To Senior Athletes. Find Out What You Need To Do To Apply?
The Homestead High School Athletic Booster Club is proud to announce the 2019-20 Student-Athlete Scholarship to be awarded to HHS senior student athletes who are current members of the HHS Booster Club.
Four (4) Scholarships, each worth $1000, will be awarded to HHS senior student-athletes recognizing:
Excellence in Academics
Excellence and Leadership in Athletics
Contributions to the HHS Student-Athlete Community
All applications must be completed and submitted to the HHS Counseling Office by 3:00 PM on Friday, April 3rd, 2020. NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED! Scholarship winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in May. Additional background and eligibility information is noted below.
General Information and Eligibility
There are two major components of this scholarship. First, athletic participation – both in terms of extent of participation/contribution to the HHS sporting community and excellence in athletics – will be an important consideration for selection. Second, academic achievement at HHS is required to be considered for this scholarship. Once these two required components are met, the selection committee will consider multiple factors including:
Membership and Active Participation in the HHS Booster Club
Extracurricular Involvement/Employment Record
Components Required for a Complete Application
Reference List: Three (3) sources from outside of the school community (employer, church official, volunteer supervisor, etc.) (No relatives, neighbors, or HHS coaches/teachers).
Student Personal Statement: (1 page maximum) addressing what has been important to you as a student-athlete at Homestead High School or how school athletics have influenced your life.
Student Athletic Record: student should include all athletic information on this page (Include both HHS team and non-HHS teams; e.g. club sports, intramural leagues, etc.)
Student Extracurricular Involvement: student should list involvement in HHS activities other than athletics.
Student Volunteerism: student should list examples of community school volunteerism.
Student Employment Record: student should list places of employment.
Letter of Acceptance or documentation that demonstrated intent to attend an institution of higher learning.
Current members of the HHS Booster Club – student and parent(s)
Current Copy of Student Transcript (minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0)
Please submit completed applications to the HHS Counseling Office no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, April 3rd 2020. Applications can be found at the HHS counseling office. (NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE CONSIDERED)
Announcement of Awardees and Payment:
Recipients of the HHS Booster Club Scholarship will be announced at the spring awards event in May. Payment will be distributed within a month following the announcement of awardees.
