Fundraiser Set To Raise $15,000
In the summer of 2017, the Mequon-Thiensville School District was proud to announce the naming of Homestead High School's varsity basketball court after long-time head coach/teacher/community leader, John Chekouras. There was a significant commitment to create an environment that displayed the pride and "Team Together" approach that Coach Chekouras instilled in everyone he crossed paths with during his time at Homestead.
The gym has taken on an impressive new look including:
-Re-painting the entire gym with a bold Highlander theme including Coach Chekouras' "Team Together" mantra on the north wall
-An amazing wall mural capturing the impact John had on everyone he encountered.
The last step to complete the project is to replace the outdated bleachers to create a place where fans can turn "Chekouras Court" into the toughest place to play in the North Shore Conference.
Together, the HHS Booster Club and MTSD have contributed funds for a large portion of this project. This fundraising campaign has been established to generate the remaining $15,000.00 needed to complete the project. All donations will go to directly towards the purchase and installation of the bleachers to be completed in August of 2018.
